Biography:

Petty Cash is Doug Fallis on Guitar, Dave Thiessen on Bass, Rob Gibson on Keyboards and Mark Wash on Drums.

Doug Fallis: Guitar, Vocals

During the 1980's, Doug played guitar for classic rock bands such as Hedge and Wizard in central Kansas before moving to the Los Angeles area in the late 1980's.  During the last twenty years in California, he played rock, country, punk and a everything in between, but one of his biggest influences has always been Tom Petty.  He is a talented guitar player who brings a wide range of playing and vocal styles to Petty Cash.  He also brings the "Petty" to Petty Cash.

Dave Thiessen: Bass, Vocals

Dave's first instrument is the guitar and his roots are in blues and rockabilly.  He began his musical career in Inman, Kansas as an original member of Toby Twotone and the Teuton Tonettes.  In the mid 1980's, the band moved to Manhattan, Kansas, added drummer Mark Wash and became The Twisters, which evolved into The Phaetons, a rockabilly blues trio that has been together for more than 20 years.

Dave developed his playing style by mimicking his blues and rockabilly heroes, such as Dave "Guitar Gomez" Gonzalez of The Paladins; Stevie Ray Vaughn; Brian Setzer of the Stray Cats, B.B. King, etc.

Even though Dave was a guitar player first, he also took his turn on bass for a set every night with The Phaetons for the last 20 years, so he understands the music from both the rhythm section and the lead.  His rockabilly blues background includes greats such as Elvis and Johnny Cash.  He delivers a solid bottom end and brings the "Cash" to Petty Cash.

Rob Gibson: Keyboards, Vocals

In the 1980's, Rob was the lead singer for Hedge, along with Doug on lead guitar.  Not long after that, Rob quit performing live but continued to write and record his own music and worked behind the scenes as a soundman with several bands, including Kansas (and later Protocah).  After running sound for Petty Cash on several occasions, the band convinced him to return to the stage in 2008, adding keyboards and turning the trio into a foursome.  This has enabled the band to expand their repertoire and give them a fatter sound.

Mark Wash: Drums, Vocals

Mark's first gig on drums was at age 15 with a garage band playing Judus Priest's "Livin' After Midnight" at a Junior High assembly.  The band didn't last so the drums sat idle for a few years, but that one gig was all it took; he was hooked.  When he moved to Manhattan, Kansas in the mid 1980's and had the opportunity to join The Twisters, he jumped at the chance.  He and Dave have been playing together with The Twister/The Phaetons ever since.

In the early 1990's, Mark took a break from the The Phaetons and played with a classic rock trio called The Wild One's that traveled throughout the mid-west from South Dakota to Arkansas.  After a couple of years, the band burned out of being on the road and split up.  Tired of the road but not tired of playing, Mark rejoined The Phaeton's to play more regionally.

Mark's first concert was Elvis (when Mark was 7) and he is a fan to this day.  When he began playing drums, he learned by playing to Kiss and Bob Seger albums (yeah, they were vinyl) in his basement.  Through the years, he was always drawn in by the drummers of hard drivin' bands such as Kiss (Peter Criss), Motley Crue (Tommy Lee), Green Day (Tre Cool), etc.  This original love of loud aggressive drumming has never left and influences the way he approaches all types of music.

Petty Cash:

As can be seen from the individual biographies, each member has brought many different influences from the past 20 plus years to the band.  They have melded together and play a unique blend of classic rock, country, punk, rockabilly, blues and everything in between.

This isn't just your average bar band that plays the same songs that you have heard a hundred other bands play before.  They pride themselves on playing a wide variety of good music.  Their shows include familiar songs as well as some lesser known music that hasn't been overplayed by classic rock radio.

They love what they do and it shows.  It's obvious when you see them live!
